You installed the Gemini mobile app but cannot find Live, cannot set Gemini as your primary assistant, or sign-in fails for region/account reasons? Google Help says to update the official apps from the App Store or Google Play, sign in with your own Google Account, then follow the Live docs.

This page cites support.google.com/gemini only: recent official mobile capabilities (text, voice, camera, connected apps), updating on iOS and Android—including the Google app when Live requires it—Google Account sign-in rules, and Gemini Live basics.

What the Gemini mobile app officially includes

“Get started with the Gemini mobile app” (support.google.com/gemini/answer/14554984) says you can ask with text, voice, images, and your camera; Gemini can use connected Google apps such as Google Workspace and YouTube Music. On Android you can also set Gemini as your primary mobile assistant when the Google app is the default assist app.

Update from the App Store or Google Play

   Android: Gemini and Google apps

   Help says download the Gemini app from the Google Play Store; Gemini Live requires the latest Google app. Install all updates for Google’s Gemini and Google apps, then restart. Do not sideload unofficial APKs.

   iOS: Gemini app

   The iOS help page says open the Gemini app on iPhone/iPad. Update Google’s official Gemini app from the App Store. Some wearables, including some AirPods and Apple Watch models, may not work with the Gemini mobile app.

   Verify UI after updating

   After updating, confirm the Live control appears. If Live is still missing on Android, check the Google app version, region, language, and account eligibility. Live features roll out gradually per Google Help.

   Optional: switch primary assistant (Android)

   To invoke Gemini with “Hey Google”: Google app → Menu → Settings → Google Assistant → Digital assistants from Google → Gemini, or device Settings → Apps → Assistant → Digital assistants from Google → Gemini.

Sign in with your Google Account

   Eligible account types

   “What you need to sign in to Gemini Apps” (answer/13278668) lists a personal Google Account, a qualifying work Google Account (Workspace edition, 18+), or a school account enabled by your admin. The mobile app cannot be used with Family Link–managed accounts.

   Sign in inside the app

   Mobile help requires you to be signed in (work/school accounts need a plan that includes Gemini Apps). Open Gemini and confirm your profile shows the correct account.

   Troubleshoot access errors

   Sign-in help says failures may relate to location, age, or account type. Check Gemini mobile app availability and workspace admin settings for school/work accounts.

   Same account on web and mobile

   To continue chats and saved activity, use the same Google Account on gemini.google.com (Sign in at the top right per answer/13278668).

Gemini Live basics (official steps)

   Meet Live requirements

   answer/15274899 lists an Android phone/tablet, the Gemini app or Gemini assistant, a personal or eligible work/school account, the latest Google app, and applicable age limits. You must be signed in to Gemini Apps.

   Start Live

   Open the Gemini mobile app, tap Live at the bottom or swipe left; you can also say “Hey Google, let’s talk Live” or “Hey Google, let’s talk” when Hey Google is on. Follow first-time on-screen instructions.

   Connected Apps (if rolled out)

   If Connected Apps in Live is available for you, connect apps in Connected Apps settings; if Gemini cannot use an app, help says to connect it there. Work accounts face the limits noted above.

   Background and lock screen (Android)

   For Live in the background or on a locked device, enable notifications under Settings → Notifications → App notifications → Google, turn on Live with Gemini, and unlock to start a session (answer/15274899).
