Instant and canvas

Update the official ChatGPT app

Update from the official store
Plus works on the ChatGPT website and supported apps. On iPhone/iPad use the App Store; on Android use Google Play. Install updates for OpenAI’s ChatGPT app and restart. Do not sideload unofficial APKs.

Sign in with one account
Plus troubleshooting: if you were charged but see Free, confirm the email under Settings → Account; for Apple Hide My Email, use the same Apple sign-in. On iOS/Android try Settings → Restore purchases.

Verify Plus status
After restore, Settings should show Plus. Manage billing via profile → Settings → Account. API usage is not included in Plus (Help Center).

Check the model picker
Release notes and Plus help both stress staged rollouts. After updating, open the chat model dropdown for GPT-5.4 Thinking, GPT-5.6 Sol, etc. Missing entries may mean rollout or region, not a broken install.

“ChatGPT Custom Instructions”: on web/desktop, Settings → Personalization, toggle Enable customization, then edit instructions; on iOS/Android, Settings → Customize ChatGPT. Plus allows longer instructions (~5,000 characters).

“Memory in ChatGPT”: Settings → Personalization → Memory. Enable Memory, Reference saved memories, Reference chat history, or Improved memory when shown; hidden toggles may mean your plan or region is not eligible yet.

Data controls
Memory help text: personal accounts can disable Improve the model for everyone under Data controls and manage Shared links (Settings → Data controls → Shared links → Manage). Training opt-out does not auto-delete existing share links.

“ChatGPT Image Inputs FAQ”: tap + → Add photos & files for images or supported video uploads. Manage Scheduled tasks in the sidebar; sharing steps are in “Sharing conversations and scheduled tasks.”

Updated the app but no GPT-5.6 Sol?
Model Release Notes say GPT-5.6 Sol rolls out to eligible paid plans only. Confirm Plus is active, run the latest app, and trust the model picker; managed workspaces may restrict access.
Plus shows as Free on Android?
Help Center: verify Account email and purchase method → Restore purchases → sign out and back in with the subscription account. Contact support with your receipt if needed.
Must I enable both Memory and Custom Instructions?
No. Custom Instructions are explicit guidance you write; Memory pulls context from chats and other sources such as Library or connected apps. Toggle each under Personalization.
